2021 English Speech Contest

• 活動名稱：109學年度英語演講比賽

1. Activity: 2021 English Speech Contest

二、活動宗旨：

（一）藉由此活動增進學生未來的職涯基本核心能力。

（二）藉由英語演講比賽訓練學生的口語表達能力，鼓勵學生之間相互觀摩學習，以培養全方位英語能力，展現學習成果，並提高學習風氣。

2. Purpose: Training English public speaking skills and encouraging peer exchange

三、主辦單位：中國文化大學英國語文學系

3. Organizer: Department of English Language & Literature, CCU

四、報名資格：

　　本校大學部就讀、且英文非母語之學生(包含交換生)。限額25名。

4. Eligibility: NON NATIVE SPEAKERS OF ENGLISH; undergraduate students of Chinese Culture University (Maximum: 25 contestants)

五、比賽時間：110年5月5日(三) 下午3:10-5:00

5. Date & Time:  3:10-5:00 p.m., May 5, 2021

七、比賽方式

1. 請從下列三個題目自行選擇一項，準備約3分鐘之演講內容，講稿必須為原創。

1. Sustainable clothes are not really sustainable.
2. Advertising is a mind game.
3. Students shouldn’t be afraid to challenge a professor if they disagree with something.

1. 預定110年5月4日(星期二)由主辦單位抽籤決定比賽順序並公告比賽地點。

7. Procedure:

1. Select one of the following topics and prepare a 3-minute speech. The content of the speech should be original.

1. Sustainable clothes are not really sustainable.
2. Advertising is a mind game.
3. Students shouldn’t be afraid to challenge a professor if they disagree with something.

1. We will announce the order of speaking and the venue by Tuesday, May 4, 2021.

八、比賽辦法：

1. 比賽當日下午3點10分前報到，並攜帶學生證驗證身份入場。

2. 評分方式：

講稿內容（35 %）、語言表達(35 %)、儀態(20 %)、時間掌控 (10%)。

帶講稿或筆記上台者斟酌扣分。

3. 計時方式：

參賽人開始演說即開始計時。2分30秒 ~ 3分30秒不扣分，但少於2分30秒或超過3分30秒，每10秒扣2分，未滿10秒以10秒計。2分30秒按鈴一響提醒，3分鐘整按鈴兩響提醒，3分30秒時按鈴三響並請立刻結束停止演講。

8. Guideline:

1. Bring your student ID card and report to the desk at the contest venue before 3:10 p.m.
2. Evaluation: Content (35%); Language & Expressions (35%); Manners & Delivery (20%); Time Control (10%) [Note: Bringing your script or notes with you on stage might affect your score to some degree.]

九、獎勵辦法：

第一名：頒發獎狀一紙、獎金二千元整。

第二名：頒發獎狀一紙、獎金一千五百元整。

第三名：頒發獎狀一紙、獎金一千元整。

優選三名：頒發獎狀一紙、獎金五百元整

※得獎名單於比賽結束成績評定後隨即公佈，賽後並發佈於本系網站，以供查詢。

※主辦單位得依參賽者素質，調整各獎項名額。獎金額度以學校最後核准金額為準。

9. Awards:

First place: A certificate and NT$2,000

Second place: A certificate and NT$1,500

Third place: A certificate and NT$1,000

Merit: A certificate and NT$500 (3 contestants)

*The awards will be announced immediately after the contest. The result will be announced on the English departmental website afterward.

**Due to the fiscal regulations of the university, the number of awards and the amount of prizes are subject to modification depending on the number of contestants.

十、注意事項：

1.競賽成績若有同分情事，得由評審討論裁決。

2.比賽當日請注意服裝儀容，勿著奇裝異服。

3.活動聯絡人：英文系秦于舒助教(校內分機23705)。

10. Notes:

1. If two contestants get the same score, the judges will consult with each other and make the decision.
2. Please dress formally or semi-formally. Do not wear casual clothing.
